Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and [some] of them they shall slay and persecute:
Note 5 at Lk. 11:49: By comparing Matthew 23:34 with this verse, it is easy to see that this is Jesus himself speaking this prophecy. There is no prophecy in scripture that parallels verses 49-51 (closest is 2 Chr. 36:15-16). Therefore, this phrase "Therefore also said the wisdom of God," is a part of Luke's narrative and is not the words of Jesus. Thus, Luke clearly states that Jesus is the wisdom of God, a truth that is well-established in scripture (Isa. 11:2; Mt. 13:54; Lk. 2:40; 1 Cor. 1:24,30; Col. 2:3,9).
