And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up [herself].

Note 1 at Lu 13:11: As mentioned in note 3 at Mr 1:32, evil spirits can cause sickness and disease. This woman had a spirit of infirmity that had afflicted her for eighteen years. The symptoms of her infirmity were close to what is today called scoliosis, or curvature of the spine.
