Next Verse |
Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find [it]?
Note 1 at Lu 15:8: Just as with His previous parable (Lu 15:4-7), Jesus was stressing His priority on seeking and saving that which is lost (Mt 18:11 and Lu 19:10). Just as this woman no doubt secured the remaining nine pieces of silver before she sought for the lost one, the Lord was not teaching us to neglect the saints to minister to the lost (see note 2 at Lu 15:4). He was simply establishing priorities and illustrating His love for the sinners, for which He had just been criticized (Lu 15:2).
