Luke 16:22
Next Verse

And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

Note 2 at Lu 16:22: The Lord does not forsake us in the time of death. "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints" (Ps 116:15). Lazarus was escorted by the angels into Abraham's bosom.

Note 3 at Lu 16:22: Abraham's bosom is a symbolic term designating a place of comfort for the righteous dead. It was also referred to as "paradise" in Lu 23:43. It was located in the heart of the earth (Mt 12:40 and Eph 4:9) in the same region as hell was located, which is where the ungodly dead go. The Old Testament referred to this entire region as "Sheol" (Amplified Bible) (see note 3 at Mt 12:40).
