Luke 16:22
Next Verse

And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

Note 2 at Lk. 16:22: The Lord does not forsake us in the time of death. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints" (Ps. 116:15). Lazarus was escorted by the angels into Abraham's bosom.

Note 3 at Lk. 16:22: Abraham's bosom is a symbolic term designating a place of comfort for the righteous dead. It was also referred to as paradise in Luke 23:43. It was located in the heart of the earth (Mt. 12:40; Eph. 4:9) in the same region as hell was located which is where the ungodly dead go. The Old Testament referred to this entire region as "sheol" (see note 3 at Mt. 12:40, p. 131).
