Luke 18:11
Previous Verse
Luke 18:11
Next Verse

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men [are], extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

Note 6 at Lk. 18:11: Notice that this scripture says that the Pharisee prayed "with himself." The Lord is not participating in prayer that is based on our goodness.

Note 7 at Lk. 18:11: This Pharisee had not committed many of the outward sins but he was guilty of the sins of the heart. The sin of trusting in ourselves is the worst sin of all. This sin spurns the necessity of Jesus' death for our sins and substitutes us as our own Savior.
