Previous Verse
Luke 18:13
Next Verse

And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as [his] eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

Note 8 at Lu 18:13: Acknowledging our guilt as sinners is a prerequisite for salvation. Jesus came only to save sinners (1Ti 1:15).

Note 9 at Lu 18:13: Notice that the publican's prayer was very brief compared to the Pharisee's, but the publican was the one whom God answered with salvation. This illustrates Mt 6:5-8.
