Luke 18:31
Next Verse

Then he took [unto him] the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

Note 3 at Lu 18:31: For centuries, the Messiah's life, death, and resurrection had been prophesied in the Old Testament scriptures. Here, all things written by the prophets concerning Him were about to be fulfilled.

Jesus fulfilled many Old Testament prophecies. Here are some of the major ones. He (1) was born of the seed of a woman (Ge 3:15 with Ga 4:4), (2) descended from the tribe of Judah (Ge 49:10 with Lu 3:33), (3) was born in Bethlehem (Mic 5:2 with Mt 2:1), (4) was born of a virgin (Isa 7:14 with Mt 1:18), (5) fled into Egypt (Ho 11:1 with Mt 2:14), (6) ministered in Galilee (Isa 9:1-2 with Mt 4:12-16), (7) was a prophet (De 18:15 with Joh 6:14), (8) was rejected by the Jews (Isa 53:3 with Joh 1:11), (9) was praised at His triumphant entry into Jerusalem (Zec 9:9 with Joh 12:13-15), (10) was betrayed by a friend (Ps 41:9 with Mr 14:10), (11) was sold for thirty pieces of silver (Zec 11:12 with Mt 26:15), (12) was accused by false witnesses (Ps 27:12 with Mt 26:60-61), (13) kept silent when accused (Isa 53:7 with Mt 26:62-63), (14) was smitten and spat upon (Isa 50:6 with Mr 14:65), (15) was hated without a cause (Ps 69:4 with Joh 15:23-25), (16) suffered for our sins and sicknesses (Isa 53:4-5 with Mt 8:16-17), (17) was crucified with sinners (Isa 53:12 with Mt 27:38), (18) had lots cast for His clothes (Ps 22:18 with Joh 19:24), (19) was given vinegar to drink (Ps 69:21 with Joh 19:28-30), (20) was pierced in His side (Zec 12:10 with Joh 19:34), (21) was buried with the rich (Isa 53:9 with Mt 27:57-60), (22) rose from the dead (Ps 16:10 with Lu 24:38-40), and (23) ascended into heaven (Ps 68:18 with Lu 24:50-51).
