And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!
Note 1 at Lk. 22:22: It was predestined that Jesus would be betrayed by a companion (Ps. 41:9), but it was not predetermined that Judas was the one who would do it. Judas was responsible for his decision and would therefore bear the consequences (see note 2 at Lk. 22:3, p. 411).
