And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!
Note 1 at Lu 22:22: It was predestined that Jesus would be betrayed by a companion (Ps 41:9), but it was not predetermined that Judas would be the one who would do it. Judas was responsible for his decision and would therefore bear the consequences (see note 2 at Lu 22:3).
