Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.

Note 3 at Lk. 23:9: Not only does Jesus' refusal to defend Himself show the humility of Jesus, but Jesus also refrained Himself from venting any of His wrath against this man who had senselessly killed His friend who Jesus said was the greatest of all the Old Testament prophets (Mt. 11:11).
