Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.
Note 12 at Lu 24:34: There are no recorded appearances of Jesus to Simon Peter prior to this. Therefore, Jesus either appeared to Peter earlier in the day--and the Gospel writers did not record it--or Peter was one of these two disciples who encountered Jesus on the road to Emmaus. For these two men to rush back to the eleven in Jerusalem with the news that Simon Peter had seen the Lord, would imply that indeed Simon Peter was one of these two men.
