And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace [be] unto you.

Note 1 at Lu 24:36: By comparing this verse with Joh 20:19, we can see that Jesus appeared to these disciples on the first day of His resurrection at the same time that the two disciples who had seen Him on the road to Emmaus were telling the others what had happened to them. Jesus just appeared in the room although the doors were locked securely because His disciples feared the Jews.
