The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
Note 5 at Mr 1:1: The Scriptures clearly refer to Jesus as the Son of God fifty-four times. There are at least sixty other references to the Son where "Son of God" is implied. Jesus referred to Himself as the Son of God (Joh 10:36). The Father called Jesus His Son (Ps 2:7 with Ac 13:33; Mt 3:17, 17:5; and Lu 9:35). The terms "Christ" and "Son of God" were used interchangeably (Joh 6:69, 20:31; and Ac 9:20; see note 2 at Mt 16:16). The scribes and Pharisees always interpreted Jesus referring to God as His "Father" or references to Jesus as the "Son of God" as blasphemy (Mt 26:63-66 and Mr 14:61-64). Joh 10:24-39 reveals the Jews' belief that Jesus referring to Himself as God's son was making Himself God.
