Mark 2:26
Previous Verse
Mark 2:26
Next Verse

How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?

Note 4 at Mk. 2:26: Ahimelech, the father of Abiathar (1 Sam. 22:20), was actually the priest at Nob who gave David the shewbread. Either the high priesthood had already passed on to Abiathar or since Abiathar was more renowned than his father (serving as the high priest for King David), his entire lifetime was referred to as "the days of Abiathar the high priest."
