Mark 4:26
Next Verse

And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;

Note 1 at Mk. 4:26: The interpretation of this parable parallels that of the interpretation of the tares found in Matthew 13:36-43. Remember that this parable was spoken during the same teaching where Jesus gave the parable of the tares sown among the wheat.

The seed is the Word of God (Lk. 8:11) which produces the children of the kingdom (the Church - Mt. 13:38), and the ground is the world. The church will continue to grow until this gospel of the kingdom has been preached in all the world and then the end will come (Mt. 24:14). The harvest is the end of the world when the church is fully ripe or complete.
