Mark 7:26
Next Verse

The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.

Note 3 at Mr 7:26: Phoenicia was an area on the Mediterranean coast that is now occupied by modern Lebanon. In Jesus' time, its affairs were administrated by Syria--thus "Syrophenicia." The region near Tyre and Sidon was about forty to fifty miles northeast of the Sea of Galilee, which would have been a two- to three-day journey for Jesus and His disciples from the land of Gennesaret.
