Mark 9:1
Previous Verse
Mark 9:1
Next Verse

And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.

Note 4 at Mk. 9:1: All three of the gospel writers who record Jesus' statement about the disciples not dying until they see the kingdom of God come with power immediately record the transfiguration of Jesus which took place six days later. This, no doubt, is because the transfiguration of Jesus was the fulfillment of this prophecy. Luke 17:20-21 shows that the kingdom of God is within us (speaking of the born-again experience), and that became a reality after Jesus' resurrection (see note 6 at Jn. 3:10, p. 48). However, the context of this statement, which is consistent in all three accounts, cannot be overlooked and points to the transfiguration of Jesus as being the "kingdom of God coming with power."
