And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did ye not believe him?
Note 3 at Mr 11:31: If the chief priests, scribes, and elders could have reasoned with God instead of with themselves, they might have seen the obvious and believed in Jesus.
