And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing [their] knees worshipped him.
Note 4 at Mr 15:19: This was the second time that Jesus had been abused in this manner and spit upon (the first time was by the religious crowd during His mock trial before Caiaphas, Mt 26:67). This was such a specific fulfillment of Isa 50:6 that there could be no doubt Jesus was the prophesied Messiah.
