And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing [their] knees worshipped him.
Note 4 at Mk. 15:19: This is the second time that Jesus had been abused in this manner and spit upon (the first time was by the religious crowd during His mock trial before Caiaphas--Mt. 26:67). This is such a specific fulfillment of Isaiah 50:6 that there could be no doubt Jesus was the prophesied Messiah.
