Mark 16:2
Previous Verse
Mark 16:2
Next Verse

And very early in the morning the first [day] of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

Note 1 at Mk. 16:2: Mark's "at the rising of the sun" and John's "when it was yet dark" do not contradict each other. It was "very early in the morning" (Lk. 24:1) and it is possible that the very first rays of light were just beginning to shine (see ref. c at Mt. 28:1, above); therefore, it would still be considered dark.

It is also possible that these women were meeting at the tomb at sunrise and Mary Magdalene arrived before the others, when it was yet dark (see note 1 at Jn. 20:1, p. 483).
