Mark 16:6
Previous Verse
Mark 16:6
Next Verse

And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

Note 3 at Mk. 16:6: Christianity is the only religion in the world whose founder is not dead and buried in a tomb somewhere. The fact that Jesus conquered the strongest enemy of all (i.e. death) is the greatest proof that He is God.

Others had been temporarily raised from the dead only to be reclaimed (see note 3 at Lk. 7:15, p. 175). Two men (i.e. Enoch--Gen. 5:24 and Elijah--2 Ki. 2:11) had escaped death. But Jesus was the first man to ever experience death and conquer it, never to die again (Rom. 6:9).
