And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.
Note 1 at Mt. 2:23: This phrase is not found in the Old Testament in this form. This may be explained in that this was a "spoken" prophecy and not written down. Nazarene was aterm used to identify a resident of Nazareth, and also an identification of a person who had taken a vow of separation (Num. 6:2; Jud. 13:5).
