And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.
Note 1 at Mt 2:23: "He shall be called a Nazarene" is not found in the Old Testament. This may be explained in that this was a "spoken" prophecy and was not written down. "Nazarene" was a term used to identify a resident of Nazareth and also an identification of a person who had taken a vow of separation (Nu 6:2 and Jdg 13:5).
