Matthew 6:31
Previous Verse
Matthew 6:31
Next Verse

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

Note 44 at Mt. 6:31: The way we take or receive an anxious thought is by speaking it. Doubtful thoughts will come, but it is not sin until we entertain them (see note 17 at Mt. 5:28, p. 75). According to this verse, speaking forth these thoughts is one way of entertaining them; therefore, don't speak forth these negative thoughts (cp. with Prov. 6:2; 13:3; 18:20-21; Mt. 12:36-37).
