Note 3 at Mt. 12:6: The priests were commanded to do work in the temple on the Sabbath and were blameless because their service to God in the temple sanctified them. If the priests could be exempted from the Sabbath laws when performing their service to God, how much more could Jesus who was greater than the Levitical priests (Heb. 7:11-18), and greater, even than the temple (2 Chr. 6:18; Isa. 66:1-2; Mt. 12:41-42).
