Matthew 12:11
Previous Verse
Matthew 12:11
Next Verse

And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift [it] out?

Note 2 at Mt. 12:11: The word "one" in this passage does not imply that the man had only one sheep and was therefore particularly anxious to rescue it. But the Greek word "hen" has the implication here, that even if one sheep out of a large flock had fallen into a ditch, it would be pulled out.
