A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
Note 2 at Mt 16:4: This is the second time that Jesus used Jonah's three days and three nights in the belly of the fish (Jon. 1:17) to prophesy His three days and nights in the heart of the earth. Compare this instance with His first mention of Jonah in Matthew 12:40.
