And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

Note 2 at Mt. 17:3: The fact that Moses appeared with Elijah proves that there is no soul sleep (see note 14 at Jn. 5:28, p. 101). Elijah never died but was translated (2 Ki. 2:11), as was Enoch (Heb. 11:5). However, Moses did die (Dt. 34:5) and had been dead over 1,500 years. His physical body was in the grave but his spirit and soul were alive. Moses' soul was visible, recognizable (spiritually discerned--see note 2 at Mt. 16:12, p. 199), and wore clothes.
