Note 1 at Mt. 17:22: This was the sixth out of 14 times Jesus had prophesied about His death (see note 1 at Mt. 16:21, p. 202) but it is the first of three times Jesus prophesied about Judas' betrayal (1st--here; 2nd--Mt. 20:17-19; Mk. 10:32- 34; Lk. 18:31-33; 3rd--Mt. 26:21-25; Mk. 14:18-21; Lk. 22:21- 23; Jn. 13:21-30).
