But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and [that] he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Note 2 at Mt. 18:6: In verses 2-4, Jesus used a child to illustrate what it took to become one of His disciples. Likewise, here in verse 6, a "little one" that is referred to includes, but is not limited to, a small boy or girl. The reference is to any disciple of Jesus (see note 10 at Mk. 9:38, p. 217).
