And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,

Note 1 at Mt. 21:1: Although the exact location of Bethphage is not known, many sources place it near the summit of the Mount of Olives between Bethany and Jerusalem. It was on or near the main road from Jericho to Jerusalem and close to where the road began its descent into Jerusalem. There are no remains of it today. The name "Bethphage" means "house of figs."
