Matthew 21:44
Previous Verse
Matthew 21:44
Next Verse

And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

Note 2 at Mt. 21:44: Jesus had just revealed that He was this stone that David spoke of in Psalm 118:22 (see note 1 at Lk. 20:9, p. 371). Therefore, Jesus is speaking of Himself as the stone in this verse also. Whoever comes to Jesus (falls upon that stone) must be broken or of a contrite heart (Ps. 34:18; 51:17; Isa. 57:15). Whoever refuses to humble himself and rely (fall) upon Jesus will have Jesus fall upon him in severe judgment at the last day (see note 10 at Jn. 3:17, p. 50).
