Matthew 26:53
Next Verse

Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

Note 2 at Mt. 26:53: A Roman legion was made up of 6,000 men. Therefore, 12 legions would be 72,000 angels. When you consider the fact that one angel had slain 185,000 men in one night (Isa. 37:36), then this was more than enough protection. This is why Jesus had told His disciples that two swords were enough (Lk. 22:38).
