And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

Note 3 at Phil. 1:14: Paul's uncompromising stand and the way that it was furthering the gospel had encouraged others to be bolder in their presentation of the gospel. Any time we show strength in the face of adversity, the Lord uses that to motivate others to achieve the same level of commitment. Courage inspires courage.
