Philippians 4:18

Philippians 4:18
Next Verse

But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things [which were sent] from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.

Note 14 at Phil. 4:18: Paul is praising God and thanking the Philippians for everything he received from them. He says he has everything and is full. By his own admission, he is abounding. But we have to remember, he is still in prison and facing possible execution at the hands of the Romans. Most of us wouldn't consider that abounding and having everything. This shows that it didn't take much for Paul to be content. Paul's contentment was found in the Lord and not in things (see note 4 at Phil. 4:11, p. 1178).

Note 15 at Phil. 4:18: The Philippians' gifts were not only a blessing to Paul but they had blessed God. The Lord loves a cheerful giver (2 Cor. 9:7).
