Romans 7:13
Next Verse

Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

Audio commentary on this verse

Note 6 at Rom. 7:13: Even though the law was called "the ministration of death" (2 Cor. 3:7), the law itself was not death. Death was already at work in us through the sin nature (see note 9 at Rom. 5:21, p. 775). The law simply drew out what was already there so that we could see how sinful we were and realize that we needed a Savior. The deceitfulness of sin evaporates in the presence of the law and sin becomes exceedingly sinful.
