Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:

Note 14 at Rom. 9:27: This verse could read, "only a remnant shall be saved." That is the point that Paul is making. His next reference from Isaiah (v. 29) complements this one, and it is clearly stressing that there will be very few Jews who are truly God's people.
