08/09/12  —  "A tornado was heading directly for our house…"

There were over twenty tornadoes in our county alone. My family and I were all at home enjoying my brand-new grandson as the weather was growing worse. But we were determined not to allow fear to take over. In fact, my mother called and said a tornado was heading our way, but I quickly discounted that and said it’s not coming here in Jesus’ name! Storm after storm passed through. Our television lost its signal, so for a long time, we couldn’t get any updates on the weather.

Suddenly, the screen came on only for about five seconds. The name of our small town was on the screen, and the weatherman said there was the potential of a deadly storm system moving through our area.

Our oldest daughter went to the kitchen and looked out the window. She turned and looked at us, and we knew exactly what it meant. A tornado was heading directly for our house. Trees and dirt were flying in the air as it came barreling toward us. Thank God for your teaching, Andrew! For over six years, I had been feeding on the Word of God, gaining insight from the simple way you speak and teach. I knew this thing was not from God, and I knew I had authority over it in Jesus’ name! I pointed my finger at it and said, “You will not touch my house in the name of Jesus!”

My husband told us to get the kids and get in the hall. It seemed like time stood still, though in reality, it was only seconds. I heard my husband yell, “Get, in Jesus’ name! Lift up and go around us!” My daughter said that at that very moment, that ugly thing from hell lifted and darted to the left. It totally missed our property and did not touch anything until it crossed our fence! My daughter said she hated that she had to go through it, but she said she was glad she got to see firsthand the name of Jesus at work.

I’ve told my kids to never forget the power of that wonderful name and how the Lord Jesus delivered us from the hand of the Enemy. Just down the road from us, it destroyed homes and did much damage on both sides of us, but just like David said, it did not come near us (Ps. 91:7)! Also, we commanded it not to touch our church members just down from us. What a God we serve! It lifted and went over them, then touched down again. It was a quarter of a mile wide!
