The Lord has been showing me some awesome things from the Word of God. I have been struggling with what I see going on in our society today, as I'm sure you have. In many ways, America has moved into a post-Christian era. Christians are the only group in America that one can discriminate against and still be "politically correct." That which used to be scandalous is now in vogue, and those who used to be extreme are now in the mainstream of American politics.

Yet, I see revival, too. We have never had a greater response to the ministry, and I have never seen people so hungry for more of God. The polls show more interest in God, more church attendance, more born-again believers than ever before. Yet, it doesn't seem to be reflected in our society. What's happening? What is really going on in our country?

I think the answers to these and many other questions are to be found in the media or, more specifically, the influence of the media. The spirit of anti-Christ has seized control of most of the media and is pushing its ungodly agenda down the throats of the average citizen. This has knocked most people off balance through confusing the way they think.

Homosexuals who comprise less than 2 percent of the population have been reported as constituting over 12 percent of the population, and issues dealing with the homosexual agenda often occupy 25 percent or more of a news broadcast. Christians are portrayed as being bigots and totally out of touch, while all types of perversion are being recognized as art or freedom of expression. In short, they are calling good evil and evil good (Is. 5:20). They are messing with our minds.

Paul said in Colossians 2:8, "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit." Philosophy is simply describing a way of thinking, an outlook, a system of thought. Satan has subtly changed the way many Americans think. There used to be absolutes. There were rights and wrongs. But those in control are trying to sell us the lie that times have changed.

The only cure for this is the true philosophy (way of thinking) that is outlined in God's Word. The Bible is the absolute standard of right and wrong thinking.

Many Christians have put huge amounts of effort into political causes hoping to change this situation. Others have just given up. But the battle is not won or lost in politics. Retired Senator Bill Armstrong, who was one of the most outspoken Christians in politics, told me that he left politics because he was frustrated. He said he will be able to do much more to change this country privately than he was ever able to as a senator.

That is not to say that Christians should not participate in politics, but it is saying that the real battle is not in the courts or in Congress, but the real battle is right between people's ears. If we can affect the way people think, we will affect their voting and all their other actions.

This is where Christianity steps in. This is what the church was supposed to be doing all along. Jesus didn't leave us instructions on politics or revolutionary tactics. He told us to preach the Gospel. The Gospel changes people's hearts and minds. As they think, that's how they'll be (Prov. 23:7).

Satan's subtle tactic has always been to attack people's minds. That's how he got to Adam and Eve. In Genesis 3:1, the serpent talked to Eve and placed doubts in her mind. Notice that the devil didn't just come and try to force them to serve him. He didn't, and still doesn't, have that power. He came against them with thoughts. If they would have rejected the wrong thinking, they would not have acted wrongly. Actions are the results of thoughts (Prov. 23:7, Rom. 8:6).

Those who try to change the behavior of themselves or others without changing their thoughts are fighting a losing battle. That's what tyranny does, and tyranny always ultimately fails. On the other hand, if you first change the thinking of yourself or another, change comes effortlessly.

I have a three-part album (the first in this series) designed specifically to establish you in the Christian way of thinking. I believe this teaching is a must for all Christians because a new way of thinking takes effort, and we believe this series will be a big help to you and others you know in making that effort.
