What You Don’t Know Could Keep You from What God Wants You to See
 

One thing that stood out throughout the conference was the importance of not just having beliefs but understanding the foundation behind them. The Bible makes it clear that knowledge matters.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

• Hosea 4:6

David Barton challenged some of the popular ideas that have been repeated about America—that our Founders were not men of faith and that the Constitution was a godless document. He brought out things about our history that many people have never heard before.

This is something every believer needs to do: don’t just believe something because somebody says it. Search it out. Look at the facts. People are constantly being told what to think. But God wants us to seek truth so we can stand confidently on what we believe and share it with others.

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.

• 1 Peter 3:15

David’s message wasn’t just about history. It was about helping believers understand why they believe what they believe. Because there’s a big difference between having an opinion and having a foundation.

Seeing God’s Hand Through History

If I were to ask you to explain how we got where we are today, would you be able to? I don’t believe most people could. That’s why it’s so important to understand history. If you don’t, you’re vulnerable to believing whatever version of events someone wants to tell you. History is not just a bunch of dates and names. It shows God’s fingerprints working through generations.

What Bill Federer shared about America’s founding, the principles that shaped our nation, and the events that followed was absolutely incredible. He brought attention to things that help explain why America developed differently than other nations.

Bob McEwen helped connect the dots between history and what’s happening in our world today. He showed how decisions made decades ago still affect nations, cultures, and the challenges we face right now.

You know, if you don’t understand history, you’re like a person who wakes up every morning with no memory of what happened yesterday. You’re just reacting to things without understanding why they are the way they are.

That’s why this conference was so important. Because you can’t fix what you don’t understand. And you can’t understand today if you ignore yesterday.

God Can Redeem What Looks Impossible

We also heard from Chad Connelly, and I tell you, his testimony is powerful. He and his wife, Dana, have both walked through some incredibly painful things. They both lost a spouse to suicide, and that kind of loss is something most people can’t even imagine.

But he didn’t let that tragedy define him. He allowed God to heal him, restore him, and use those experiences to bring hope to other people. Today, Chad is full of joy, serving the Lord, and making a difference.

If you’ve faced something you never thought you could overcome, you need to hear Chad’s testimony. It’ll encourage you that no matter what you’ve been through, God’s grace is greater than any heartbreak, and He is still working in your life.

Equipped for the Days Ahead

I don’t have space here to share what Alex McFarland, Richard Harris, and E. W. Jackson brought to the conference, but each one added such important perspectives. They encouraged us to stand on biblical truth in every area of life, and I believe their messages will really inspire you.

You know, we just recently hosted the 2026 World Cup here in the United States, and we had millions of people from other nations come for those games. And what was interesting was hearing some of these visitors say how they were lied to about America. They came here and saw things for themselves, and it didn’t match the things they’d been told.

As I mentioned earlier, I’m not saying America is perfect. We have problems just like any other nation. But America has been greatly maligned, and there are many people who don’t understand the good things that God has done through this nation.

So I really encourage you to get the recordings for this year’s Summer Family Bible Conference. You need to educate yourself about the world around you so you can grow in your understanding of God’s purposes and your role in what He is doing today.
