No Climbing Necessary

No Climbing Necessary

“Everybody has those days.”

“We all go through those seasons.”

“The Christian life isn’t supposed to be easy.”

We hear this all the time from well-meaning people. But have you ever thought that God actually wants you to win in every season of life? To have good days? Do you know what it would take to see victory on the daily?

First John 5:4 says, “This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith” (New International Version).

To live above the trials in this life, all we need is faith. Real faith. Maybe you’ve tried to climb out of a crisis by mustering up all the faith you can feel at the moment. But you were left worn-out and worried that you’ll have to stay hyped up, prepared for the next problem. This isn’t the overcoming faith that this scripture is talking about!

Andrew said it best in his teaching “How to Overcome Doubt“: “But overcoming doubt isn’t just about feeling better; it’s about getting back into faith that only comes from the Word of God (Rom. 10:17).” The true faith that leads us to every success in life is grounded in the Word of God. It’s in what Jesus won for us: peace, limitless faith, victory! And it’s for every single moment of our lives.

Then how do we start to live life in this kind of faith? How can we stop looking to ourselves to make victory happen?

The secret is hearing. “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”

Romans 10:17, English Standard Version

This is the simplicity of our awesome God. When we hear the anointed Word taught, faith begins to build in our hearts effortlessly. And when we keep hearing and hearing—over and over again—our faith flourishes and consumes our thoughts of doubt and defeat. We can then find ourselves filled with faith and on the other side of our mountain, without even doing the climbing ourselves.

In the same teaching about overcoming doubt, Andrew explains, “You must come to a place to where God’s Word is more real to you than anything you can see, taste, hear, smell, or feel. . . . Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word.”

This is what it means to fight the good fight of faith (1 Tim. 6:12). Fight to stay under the washing of the Word. When the news, the radio, or doubtful people are crowding your airwaves, drown yourself in the teaching of God’s goodness. The hearing of Jesus-centered preaching will pull you out of your situation. Before you know it, failure will not even be an option. You will be walking in ridiculous amounts of favor, and people will wonder why you are always winning!
